One of my readers asked me to style an outfit for her "casual business happy hour" for $75 or less. She's a petite hourglass. I picked a short shift dress, that's not too baggy, which hints at her curves in an understated way. (If this were a date night outfit, a more fitted style would be better). Also, the shift style is very versatile, meaning it works ?
well for casual and dressier occasions. The short hemline, plus pointed-toe heels help elongate her legs.
^ how cute is this rainbow dress from Modcloth?! Shop Modcloth this weekend for 30% off dresses and jumpsuits, including sale items. Other notable Labor Day sales include: 50% off summer pieces at Express, 25% off bags at Urban Outfitters with code BAGS25, 20% off Macy's with code WKND, and $10 off $25+ a JCPenney (in store and online).
White shoes are trending (and yes, you can wear them next week too). These styles are on sale at DSW (cowboy boots and combat boots) and Zappos (Jack Purcells and kitten heels). What's your fav shoe style?
From our outfit ideas file: work-to-date outfit starting with a faux leather pencil skirt. Add a bodysuit and belted cardigan and pumps. After hours, ditch the cardi and you're ready for date night. Find these pieces for less than $150 total at ASOS (pencil skirt and cardi), Missguided (bodysuit), and DSW (pumps).
So I've been away...I took a break from IG for a while to reset and rethink the content I post here. I've always been a little conflicted about this, in terms of how much of my content should be Budget Fashionista and how much should be "me." I know I have a mix of followers who are personal friends and others who come here by way of my blog, and I think I wasn't doing a great job for either audience. Other bloggers seem to walk this line between real person and persona pretty seamlessly, but frankly, it's not for me — writing is my skill, not modeling . So going forward, expect to see posts about fashion sales and outfit ideas here, and far fewer pics of me personally. If you want to follow me, feel free to unfollow here and find me @tigeats. Over there, you'll probably see pics of food, my horse, and me (likely wearing no make-up and covered in horse slobber).
These pics are from our rafting trip in Taos last weekend. Swipe left to see why we’re smiling — we all stayed in the boat (even though @chuckbrummer appears to be underwater)! Fun stuff if you can get past the terrifying safety lecture. We saw some gorg scenery too, plus a golden eagle and some wild sheep. I might be hooked on rafting...
Standing on the mesa after a rocky, uphill hike at La Cieneguilla Petroglyph Site in Santa Fe — made it to the top in one piece and saw some amazing petroglyphs on the way!?
I bought this cute white crop jacket at Target yesterday for $35 for some extra sun protection and I've already worn it twice — once for white water rafting (which was a blast) and once for this hike.
Apartment shopping with my daughter @jessica_brock and stuck in the car because it’s pouring rain. Clearly, we dressed for the weather we wanted and not the weather we had #dreambig.
This cute floral dress from LeTote would be perfect if it were sunny...as would Jessica’s halter from Francesca’s!
Just back from a turnaround road trip to Cincinnati and I feel out of the swing of things. Anyone have any tips to share on getting refocused after you've stepped out of your routine
I picked up this sheer, layered white top (Lauren Conrad) on sale at Kohl's and matched it up with grey jeans from TJMaxx.
It's always a pleasure to share the camera with Kim Hudson at FOX2 News! We talked about summer skincare and products that multitask like Soft Sweep by Care Skincare and SPFRx Daily Skin Hydrator. (I did not mention that I spent the whole weekend outside and I'm kinda low on sleep...hopefully that's not obvious haha)
#gotitfree How cute is this bath bomb and pineapple soap combo? Honeycat Cosmetics bath bombs smell amazing, feel luxurious, and each one comes with a fun-shaped soap on top — everything you need for a lovely bath experience (except for the wine and a good book, that is).
